Explanation of Surah An-Nisā 4:3

Explanation of Surah An-Nisā 4:3

Firstly I want to say that, there is a long Turkish version of this article here if you want to look at and if you know Turkish.
And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].

As I’ve first seen the verse I thought that there is something to stop reading and think a bit. Because most of people who read this verse may understand that a man can get married with an orphan girl but there is some limitations for this…
Infact, according to my researches, this  is not true. And I want to explain, but for me, it is not possible to translate all the article into English, so I am writing only the summary or result part.
In Arabic language, according to the old books that I ‘ve searched for, the word “orphan” is not only used for a child who had lost his/her father, but also used for a women who had lost her husband. And if a husband-died women has a child, or children she is also called “orphan” because of her children.
If you realised the former verse is telling us….
And give to the orphans their properties and do not substitute the defective [of your own] for the good [of theirs]. And do not consume their properties into your own. Indeed, that is ever a great sin.
…..to give importance to the rights of orphans. There is no diffrence between girl orphan or boy orphan. So why it is “orphan girls” in the verse 4:3? To translate is as “husband-died women” is more correct, isn’t it?
As a summary Allah says us (in my words and understanding)
In extraordinary conditions ( for example war)  you can get married with a widow who has children. But if you fear to behave her orphans badly, you can find another widow who has no any children. It is because it is an extraordinary time ( for example war , the number of women is too much than the men) you can get married with 2, 3, up to 4 with these widows to protect them from very bad conditions of life. But never think to get their properties, goods. But, still, you fear to be unjustice, then, you can only get married with one of them. Or you stay with right hand possesses ( this is a very special word in Quran, this never means female slave in any part of Qur’an, in this verse probably means your own wife)
